Edith Martinez

Current Position: I am currently a proud kindergarten teacher, where I have the joy of welcoming our youngest learners into the world of education. Each day is a new opportunity to spark curiosity, build confidence, and nurture a love of learning in my students.

Teaching History: My journey in education began as a kindergarten instructional aide, where I discovered how powerful early learning experiences can be. That role inspired me to become a full-time teacher. Now, with over eleven years of teaching experience, I bring both practical knowledge and heartfelt dedication to my classroom every day. Watching students grow academically, emotionally, and socially continues to be an incredible privilege.

Teaching Passion: One of my greatest passions is teaching in a dual immersion setting. I believe that learning a second language opens up new ways of thinking, understanding, and connecting with others. Helping children become bilingual not only strengthens their academic skills but also gives them the gift of cultural awareness and empathy. I also have a deep love for teaching students how to read—there’s nothing quite like witnessing the moment when a child realizes they can make sense of the words on a page.

Outside Interests: Outside the classroom, I enjoy quiet moments with a good book, the challenge of a puzzle, and most of all, time spent with my family. I’m especially close to my daughters, my nephews, and my sister—who is also a teacher. Our shared love of education makes for some great conversations, laughter, and support.

Superpower: If I could have any superpower, I would choose the ability to create interdimensional portals—gateways to explore other realities and experience the world through different lenses. I think there’s so much value in being able to see life from multiple perspectives, and this imaginary superpower reflects my belief in the power of empathy, exploration, and open-mindedness.
